My shutter won't close — what should I do first?
Check for anything obviously fouling the guides, then stop trying to force it. Repeated attempts on a jammed curtain bend slats and turn a small repair into a big one. Ring us and stay with the building if it's safe.
Can I close it by hand?
Most electric shutters have a manual override — a chain hoist or a crank. If yours does and the curtain moves freely, closing it is sensible. If it's heavy or resists, stop, because that suggests a spring or brake fault.
Will you be able to secure it tonight?
In the vast majority of cases yes. Even where a full repair needs parts, getting the opening closed and locked is nearly always achievable on the first visit.
Do you charge more at night?
We tell you the callout cost when you ring, before anyone travels. There are no charges that appear afterwards.
The shutter has power but does nothing — what's likely?
Usually the motor, the control board or a safety device such as a bottom edge or photocell that has failed and is inhibiting operation. All are common and all are repairable.
Can you repair a shutter another company fitted?
Yes. Most of our emergency work is on shutters we didn't install, including obsolete systems where we fabricate parts ourselves.
