We fit both and we'll tell you honestly which suits your opening, your exposure and your insurance requirements rather than pushing one because it's easier to source.

Is aluminium secure enough for a shop?
For most high streets, yes, particularly in a heavier gauge. For high-value stock or a known target, we'd specify steel and say so.
Why is aluminium better near the coast?
It doesn't rust. Salt air destroys galvanised steel curtains and guides within a few seasons on exposed seafronts, while aluminium keeps working with routine servicing.
Are insulated aluminium shutters worth it?
If the opening is heated space or noise is an issue, yes — foam-filled laths cut heat loss and noticeably reduce noise through the opening.
Can you replace a steel curtain with aluminium?
Sometimes, but the barrel, springs and motor were balanced for the old weight. We'd check and re-specify the counterbalance rather than just swapping the curtain.
What finishes are available?
Powder coating in any RAL colour, plus mill finish and through-colour options. Colour matching to your branding is routine.
